Measles was once thought to
be largely eradicated in the Unites States, but six outbreaks have occurred in
unvaccinated populations throughout the country.
"Measles is a super
contagious disease, so if you are unvaccinated and you're exposed to measles,
you've got a nine to 10 out of 10 chance that you're going to get
measles," the Department of Public Health and Wellness' Dr. Loria Caloia
said. "It’s totally unnecessary that children and adults should be
unprotected against this deadly disease. We urge everyone to be
immunized."
